Waapu and Solley earn NFHCA postseason honors: Anne Waapu and Lauren Solley were each named to the 2009 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II All-American team. This marks the first time either earned All-American accolades, with Waapu named to the first team and Solley to the second team. Full Story

Solley among top scorers in Division II: Lauren Solley
of the Kutztown University field hockey team finished among the top in Division II in numerous statistical categories after  a breakout senior season. After missing the 2007 season with a torn ACL and not being at full strength in the 2008 season, Solley prepared herself in the offseason with harder workouts and played in a summer league. Golden Bears down Seton Hill:
The Kutztown University field hockey used goals from five different players to ease by visiting Seton Hill 7-1 on Saturday night at University Field in a nonconference contest. Despite the pouring rain and chilly temperatures, the Golden Bears kept their foot on the throttle the entire game. Courtney Zook scored two goals for the Golden Bears. Full Story

The Kutztown University field hockey team is currently ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Division II Southern Region. Ahead of the Golden Bears are Bloomsburg (No.1), Shippensburg (No.2) and East Stroudsburg (No.3). The top three spots are the same in the latest NFHCA/Kookaburra Ranking, where KU ranks No. 6. On the cold Tuesday night at University Field, the Kutztown University field hockey team came out on fire to take down No. 3 East Stroudsburg by a 3-1 margin. The Kutztown University field hockey team stayed in the No. 6 spot of the 2009 Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Coaches poll released on Tuesday. The entire ranking remained the same, from first through eighth, with Millersville moving from No. 10 to tied for eighth with Mercyhurst. Full Story

The Kutztown University field hockey team continued its solid play on Sunday with a 2-1 win at Slippery Rock. Anne Waapu provided all the offense necessary to get the win for the Golden Bears (9-6, 2-3 PSAC East). She had an unassisted goal in the first half. Full Story

Healey keeping the name alive at KU:
In the past, when in doubt of who had the ball for the Kutztown University field hockey team it was a good guess to say “one of the Healey’s”. There was roughly a one-in-six chance that the guess was correct. Nowadays, the percentage is much lower with only one Healey on the 2009 roster. Full Story

Solley named PSAC East Player of the Week:
Lauren Solley's huge week was recognized by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) when she was named Eastern Division Player of the Week. Solley had two assists as KU defeated Bloomsburg, 2-1, Monday night to end a 26-year, 39-match losing skid to the Huskies. Full Story

The Kutztown University field hockey team, ranked fifth in the Division II preseason poll, stunned top-ranked Bloomsburg, 2-1, Monday night to end a 39-game losing streak to the Huskies. Anne Waapu and Julie Rosenkaimer scored for KU, which got two assists from Lauren Solley. Full Story

The Kutztown University field hockey team defeated Bellarmine 4-1to take first place in the Joshua W. Wesner Memorial Tournament after two days of dominating play. KU outscored their opponents 17-2 throughout the tournament and allowed only 8 shots in the three games they played. Full Story

The Kutztown University field hockey team will begin the 2009 season on Saturday at home against Merrimack. The Golden Bears lost seven starters and 11 letterwinners from the 2008 squad, but still expect to compete for the PSAC title. Full Story
