BLOOMSBURG, Pa. —
Kutztown University's field hockey team suffered its first loss of
the season, falling to Bloomsburg 6-1 Tuesday evening.
Kutztown, which was named the No. 1 team in
Division II earlier in the day on Tuesday, suffered its first loss
of the season to Bloomsburg, which is ranked No. 2. The Golden Bears
are now 10-1 overall, 5-1 in the PSAC. The Huskies improve to 9-1
overall, 6-1 in the PSAC.
Bloomsburg's Ashley Heckard netted a hat
trick, while Samantha Kropa, Brieann Wolfe and Amy Gilbert also
scored goals.
KU's lone score came from Kelley
Healey (jr. Toms River, N.J./Toms River North), off an assist from Laura Wieder
(sr. Emmaus/Emmaus) at the 56:13
mark.
Sam Flowers (sr.
Harleysville/Souderton) had 11 saves in the cage for
KU.
