Kutztown 3, Millersville 2
BOXSCORE
MILLERSVILLE, Pa. —
Alyssa Maltese scored two goals and assisted the other to
lead the Kutztown University field hockey team to a 3-2 win at Millersville Thursday afternoon.
Anne Waapu scored KU's other
goal, while Kelley Healey had a pair of assists. With
her two points off the assists, Healey now has 127 career
points, moving into second on KU's all-time list with 127. She
passed Shannon Daggett (126, 1994-97).
Waapu evened the score late in
the first half after the Marauders took an early lead.
Maltese gave the Bears a 2-1 lead early in the second half, but
Millersville tied it again at the 53:27 mark.
Maltese's second goal gave KU the
lead for good in the see-saw battle. She scored off a pass
from Healey at the 54:42 mark and KU kept the lead the rest
of the way.
Sam Flowers had four saves for the Golden Bears, who learned
earlier this week that they've clinched a PSAC Playoff berth.
KU (15-2, 9-2 PSAC) have three regular season games remaining before
the playoffs begin on Oct. 26 at the No. 1 seed. The Bears host East
Stroudsburg on Saturday.
