Lyndsay Butler (sr. Annandale, N.J./Summit) and
Kelley Healey (sr. Toms River, N.J./Toms River North)
each had first-half goals for the Kutztown University field hockey
team, but Bloomsburg scored five second-half goals for a 7-2 win
Saturday.
Healey also had an assist in the
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East contest, bringing her to
within one point of tying the KU all-time record for points in a
career. Lisa Marrella (1986-89) currently holds the record with 162
points.
Jamie Vanartsdalen opened the scoring in
the ninth minute with an unassisted goal, but Butler scored in the
26th minute to time the game at 1-1. Butler's goal came off a
penalty corner and a pass from Healey.
Bloomsburg (16-1, 7-0 PSAC East),
however, quickly regained the lead at 2-1 with with a goal from
Ashley Miller in the 28th minute.
KU (13-4, 5-3 PSAC East) again tied it
when Healey scored off a penalty corner with 13 second left in the
first half.
Anne Waapu (so. Hastings, NEW ZEALAND)
recorded the assist on the goal.
The second half belonged to
Bloomsburg as Amanda Riley, Venessa Witman, Chelsea Due, Maggey
Bloskey and Vanartsdalen all had goals in a span of 11 minutes and
14 seconds.
The Golden Bears will host Shippensburg
at 4 p.m. Tuesday for their second PSAC East meeting of the season.
