The No. 5-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team topped
sixth-ranked East Stroudsburg with a 3-2 overtime win Saturday afternoon
in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East game.
The
visiting Golden Bears (11-2, 3-2 PSAC East) got an unassisted
game-winning goal by
Kelley Healey
(sr. Toms River, N.J./Toms River North)
at the 76:19
mark.
The
Warriors (8-5. 3-2 PSAC East) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the
first half, with goals from Monica Gombita, the first off a
penalty corner and the second on a penalty stroke.
KU pulled
even with back-to-back two goals from
Lyndsay Butler
(sr. Annandale, N.J./Summit). The first goal came off
a penalty corner from Healey mid-way through the second half.
The
unassisted, game-tying goal by Butler was scored at the 54:22
mark, eventually sending the game into overtime.
The
Golden Bears outshot their opponent 19-9 and held the advantage in
penalty corners 24-6.
KU
will return to action in a PSAC East matchup with Millersville at 7
p.m.
Wednesday at University Field.
