BOXSCORE
KUTZTOWN, Pa.
—
Kelley Healey (sr. Toms River, N.J./Toms River North)
kick-started the offense in the second half for the Kutztown
University field hockey team in a 5-1 win over Millersville
University Wednesday at University Field.
Healey’s goal at the 36:55 mark broke the 1-1 tie and was one of
four second-half goals for the fourth-ranked Golden Bears in the
second half of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East
contest.
Lyndsay Butler (sr. Annandale, N.J./Summit)
scored twice in the contest, including
the game’s first goal in the 10th minute.
Millersville found the equalizer about
six minutes later when
Krista Testa scored on a pass from Amie Mowery.
That was it for Millersville (4-8, 0-6 PSAC East), however, as
Emily Falko (fr. Catasauqua/Catasauqua)
made five save to hold the Marauders to just one tally.
With 16:12 remaining in the game, Butler gave the Golden Bears
(12-2, 4-2 PSAC East) some breathing room, scoring unassisted to
make it 3-1.
Abbey Sheeler (so. Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights)
scored in the 66th minute and
Jennifer Belfatti (sr. Hatfield/Lansdale Catholic)
scored on a penalty stroke in the 68th minute to make it 5-1.
Julie Rosenkaimer (fr. Lansdale/North Penn)
assisted on Sheeler’s goal.
KU, which moved up to No. 3 in the
region, outshot Millersville 23-6.
The Golden Bears will return to University Field at 7 p.m. Saturday
for a PSAC crossover against Indiana (Pa.), the No. 1-ranked team in
Division II.
