ESU tops KU 14-5 in PSAC Opener

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. —
The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team dropped its Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference opener against East Stroudsburg 14-5 on
Tuesday afternoon.
The Warriors (1-2, 1-0 PSAC East) jumped
out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jamie Wesztergom with 23:16
left in the half. The Golden Bears (0-2, 0-1 PSAC East) tied it up
at 1-1 13 seconds later on an unassisted goal by
Rachel Mehaffey (fr. West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford).
KU extended its lead to 3-1 with
another unassisted goal by Mehaffey and an unassisted goal by
Janice Kinney (jr. Spring City/Owen J. Roberts).
ESU went on a 9-0 run to take control of
the game before
Ally
Brehm (fr. Carlisle/Carlisle) and
Leeann Pica (fr. Levittown/Neshaminy) added unassisted goals
of their own.
ESU held a 42-30 advantage in shots
and held a 45-23 advantage in ground balls.
The Golden Bears will return to action
on Wednesday, March 18, at Shippensburg for a 4 p.m. PSAC East contest.
