KU's season ends with extra-inning loss at Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — The Kutztown University softball team's season came to a close with a 2-1, 11-inning loss to Lock Haven Game 2 of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Super Regionals Friday afternoon.

Lock Haven (46-5) advances to the Division II World Series with the victory.

Kutztown finishes with a 46-12-1 record.

Kutztown's Steph Denlinger gave the Golden Bears an early lead with a solo home run in the first inning. It was the 79th homer in the first baseman's career, an NCAA Division II record.

The Lady Eagles tied it in the fourth when Julia Popovich singled in Erica Eisenbise.

The score remained that way until the 11th inning when Brittney Muthard's home run broke the deadlock. KU was retired in order in the bottom of the 11th.

Kristin Erb (45-4) scattered six hits over 11 innings, striking out two.

Katlin Arbogast allowed one run in four innings. Monica Glomb went the final seven frames to suffer the loss (9-3).
