KU's season ends with
extra-inning loss at Lock Haven
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — The Kutztown University softball
team's season came to a close with a 2-1, 11-inning loss to Lock
Haven Game 2 of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Super Regionals Friday
afternoon.
Lock Haven (46-5) advances to the
Division II World Series with the victory.
Kutztown
finishes with a 46-12-1 record.
Kutztown's Steph Denlinger gave the Golden Bears an early
lead with a solo home run in the first inning. It was the 79th
homer in the first baseman's career, an NCAA Division II record.
The Lady
Eagles tied it in the fourth when Julia Popovich singled in Erica
Eisenbise.
The score
remained that way until the 11th inning when Brittney Muthard's home
run broke the deadlock. KU was retired in order in the bottom
of the 11th.
Kristin
Erb (45-4) scattered six hits over 11 innings, striking out two.
Katlin
Arbogast allowed one run in four innings. Monica Glomb
went the final seven frames to suffer the loss (9-3).
