SAVANNAH, Ga. — The 11th-ranked Kutztown University softball team swept their doubleheader with Armstrong Atlantic State on Saturday afternoon, winning by scores of 3-2 and 4-1.

Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton) tied the Division II career home run record, with a two-run blast in the first inning of the first game. The home run is the 62nd of her career which ties her with Jackie Aiken of Wisconsin-Parkside, who set the record from 1994-97.

Denlinger's home run scored Kim Morrison (sr. Newmartket, ONT/Sir William Mulock), who reached base on one her three doubles on the day, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead. Morrison finished the game a perfect 4-for-4.

The Golden Bears (11-5) tacked on another run in the fourth on an RBI single by Sara Golden (fr. Souderton/Souderton) to knock in Nicole Colineri (fr. Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood).

Armstrong Atlantic managed scored in the bottom of the fourth and the bottom of the seventh, but came up just short against Katlin Arbogast (jr. Ambler/Wissahickon). Arbogast improved her record to 7-3 after scattering six hits and striking out five.

The second game started with KU plated two runners in each of the first two innings, accounting for all of their runs.

Krista Cameron (sr. Formosa, ONT/Sacred Heart) led the offense with two hits and two RBIs for the Golden Bears (12-5). Ashley Fitzgerald (sr. Kitchener, ONT/Resurrection) knocked in a run while going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Monica Glomb (so. Mars/Mars) picked up the win with a complete game four-hitter while striking out six Pirate (12-12) batters.

The Golden Bears wrapped up their southern road trip with the two wins over Armstrong Atlantic and went 7-3 at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida. The softball team will return to action Friday through Saturday at the Glenville Invitational starting at 2 p.m. against West Liberty State.
