Bloomsburg tops Golden Bears 2-1

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Kutztown University softball team dropped a 2-1 battle with Bloomsburg on Friday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover matchup.

All of the scoring was provided in the first inning of the game. Bloomsburg got its two runs on three hits, which included an RBI double by Tara Reed. Reed was knocked in on a single by Jenna Hampton for what proved to be the winning run.

Denlinger finished the game 2-for-2 and Fitzgerald was 2-for-3.

Denlinger walked in the third inning, to set the NCAA Division II all-time record for walks with 146. She walked again in the seventh to add to her record.

The Golden Bears stranded 10 runners throughout the game, including five in scoring position.

Katlin Arbogast (jr. Ambler/Wissahickon) was the hard-luck loser, allowing two runs and six hits, to take the loss. Mary Hoch (so. Somerton/St. Hubert) pitched four innings of shutout relief, surrendering only three hits. She struck out three.
