GLOMB, KU CRUISE TO 13-0 WIN
GLENVILLE, W.Va. —
Monica Glomb
(so. Mars/Mars)
pitched a one hitter in the Golden Bears 13-0 win over host Glenville State on
Saturday afternoon.
The
game called after five innings due to the eight-run rule, the third straight for
KU, started out with a seven run first. The Golden Bears (16-5) plated two
runners in the second, third and fifth to complete their scoring. Glomb had nine
strikeouts to earn her fifth win of the season.
Leading the offense charge were
Michelle McGinty (fr.
Warminster/Archbishop Wood),
Krista Cameron (sr.
Formosa, ONT/Sacred Heart)
and
Ashley Fitzgerald
(sr. Kitchener, ONT/Resurrection)
with two RBIs apiece. Fitzgerald was 2-for-2, both hits being doubles, and
Krista Tedjeske (so.
Summerhill/Forest Hills)
was
2-for-4 with a double.
KU
has now outscored their opponents 39-1 in the four games of the invitational.
The
Golden Bears will finish off the Glenville Invitational on Sunday at noon
against Charleston (W. Va.).

DENLINGER BREAKS HOME RUN RECORD IN 10-0 WIN
GLENVILLE, W.Va. —
Steph Denlinger (sr.
Harleysville/Souderton)
hit
a three-run home run in the fourth inning of a 10-0 win over West Virginia State
to break the NCAA Division II home run record.
The
homer marked the 63rd of her career, surpassing Jackie Aiken’s 62 which was
set from 1994-1997 at Wisconsin-Parkside.
Katlin Arbogast (jr.
Ambler/Wissahickon)
set the school record for career shutouts, earning the 20th of
her career.
She allowed only one hit and struck out seven to receive her ninth win of the
season.
Maggie Reifsnyder
(so. Philadlephia/Littleflower)
was
3-for-3 at the dish, including a double and
Michelle McGinty (fr.
Warminster/Archbishop Wood)
added a triple for the Golden Bears (14-5).
The
Golden Bears will take on host Glenville State to finish off their doubleheader
on Saturday.

KU OFFENSE SPARKS ROUT 13-0 ROUT
, W.Va. —
The Kutztown University softball team smashed four home runs in its 13-0 rout
of Davis & Elkins Friday at the Glenville Invitational.
Michelle McGinty (fr.
Warminster/Archbishop Wood)
led the potent offense with two home runs and five RBIs.
Krista Tedjeske (so.
Summerhill/Forest Hills) also had a hot bat, going 2-for-2 with a
home run and three RBIs.
Rounding out the Golden Bear (14-5) offense were
Laura Kelley (fr.
Stafford, Va./North Stafford) belting one home run and adding a double,
while Maria Schiavo
(jr. Old Forge/Old Forge) and
Krista Cameron (sr.
Formosa, ONT/Sacred Heart) each had doubles.
Mary Hoch (so.
Somerton/St. Hubert)
and Monica Glomb
(so. Mars/Mars) combined for a two-hit shutout in the five-inning
contest shortened by the eight-run rule. Glomb struck out three batters and
picked up the mound win.
KU will take on take on West Virginia State at 10 a.m. and Glenville State, the
host,
at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
