Denlinger powers KU to doubleheader
sweep of Millersville
MILLERSVILLE, Pa.
—
Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton)
hit her 18th homer of the season as the Kutztown
University softball team brought the bats in a doubleheader sweep of
Millersville University Wednesday.
KU (35-6-1, 10-0 PSAC East) scored 18 runs Wednesday, winning 8-0 in
game one and 10-1 in game two.
Denlinger highlighted the day, going a combined 4-for-6 with four
RBIs, four runs scored and a home run.
She leads
the team in batting with a .408 average. She has 49 RBIs and 52 runs
scored. With her one walk Wednesday, she moves into a tie for second
place on the NCAA Division II all-time walks list with 141 in her
career. She needs four more to tie the record holder, Taiisha
Pleasant (1997-2000), of Humboldt State, at 145.
KU, which
has swept its last five PSAC East doubleheaders, has now won 30 of
its last 33 games.
The Golden Bears will travel to Shippensburg for a 3 p.m.
doubleheader Thursday. KU can clinch its third straight PSAC East
title with a sweep of the Red Raiders.

Offense thrives, Arbogast shines with 11 strikeouts
MILLERSVILLE,
Pa. —
Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton)
led the Golden Bears with two of their 11 hits and pitcher
Katlin Arbogast (jr. Ambler/Wissahickon)
struck out 11 in a complete-game shutout of Millersville in game one
of their doubleheader.
Arbogast (17-3) allowed six hits and two walks over seven innings
for the win.
Denlinger, who homered in the fifth, finished 2-for-2 with two runs
and two RBIs. It was her 18th homer of the season and 74th of her
career.
She was one of four Golden Bears to have multiple hits in the game.
Maria Schiavo (jr. Old Forge/Old Forge),
Kim Morrison (sr. Newmarket, ONTARIO /Sir William Mulock)
and
Krista Tedjeske (so. Summerhill/Forest Hills)
also had two hits.
Schiavo and Tedjeske each had two RBIs and a run scored, while
Morrison scored two runs and drove in another.
Tedjeske homered and doubled, and both Morrison and Schiavo hit
triples.
Ashley Fitzgerald (sr. Kitchener, ONTARIO /Resurrection)
finished 1-for-3 with an RBI double, and
Heather Hannum (fr. Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham)
singled and scored a run.
Schiavo's four
hits highlights KU's 10-1 win

collected four of the Golden Bears’ 14 hits in a 10-1 win over
Millersville in game two of their doubleheader.
Schiavo finished 4-for-5 with an RBI and
a run scored.
Kim Morrison (sr. Newmarket, ONTARIO /Sir William Mulock)
and
Maggie Reifsnyder (so. Philadelphia/Littleflower)
each doubled, while
Ashley Fitzgerald (sr. Kitchener, ONTARIO /Resurrection)
and
Heather Hannum (fr. Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham)
homered for the Golden Bears.
Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton)
went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
KU scored five runs in the top of the
seventh to break the game open.
Mary Hoch (so. Somerton/St. Hubert)
picked up her 10th win of the season, allowing just one run on one
hit and a walk. She struck out five. Shaina Briel’s homer in the
bottom of the first, which cut KU’s lead to 2-1, was the only run
Millersville managed in the doubleheader.
