Walk-off homers highlight KU's sweep of
Shippensburg
KUTZTOWN, Pa. —
The Kutztown University softball team swept its Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference Eastern Division contest with Shippensburg on
Monday at North Campus Field.
The Golden Bears (30-6,
6-0 PSAC East) beat Shippensburg (15-12, 3-3 PSAC East) with
walk-off home runs in each of the contests.
KU will travel to West
Chester on Tuesday for a PSAC East contest at 2:30 p.m.

Fitzgerald hits walk-off homer in bottom of seventh
KUTZTOWN, Pa.

Fitzgerald (sr. Kitchener, ONT/Resurrection)
broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh
for a walk-off 4-1 win against Shippensburg on Monday at North
Campus Field.
With two outs,
Kim
Morrison (sr. Newmartket, ONT/Sir William Mulock) drew a
walk and
Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton) kept the
inning alive with an infield single. Fitzgerald then
ripped the game-winner off of the scoreboard in right center field.
After allowing one run
on two hits in the first,
Katlin Arbogast (jr. Ambler/Wissahickon)
held the Lady Raiders to only one hit the
rest of the game. Arbogast struck out five along the way to pick up
her 15 win of the season. She retired the final 17 batters.
The Golden Bears
manufactured a run in the fourth to tie the score at 1-1. KU used
back-to-back singles by Fitzgerald and
Krista
Cameron (sr. Formosa, ONT/Sacred Heart) followed by back-to-back
walks by
Krista
Tedjeske (so. Summerhill/Forest Hills) and
Michelle McGinty (fr. Warminster/Archbishop Wood) to force
in the run.
Fitzgerald finished the
game 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored. Cameron also
collected a multiple hit game, going 2-for-3.
Denlinger homers
twice, Hannum hits walk-off in 9-1 win
KUTZTOWN, Pa.

Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton)
hit two home runs and
Heather Hannum (fr. Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham)
hit a walk-off blast to lead the Golden Bears to a 9-1 win in the
second game of the doubleheader.
Hannum’s solo shot pushed the Golden Bears ahead by eight runs,
putting the mercy-rule into effect.
Denlinger had a solo home run to the opposite field in the second
inning and then she blasted the 14th of the season in the fourth, a
two-run shot well over the center-field wall.
She finished 2-for-2 with three runs scored on two homers and a
walk.
Hannum also drove in two runs, forcing in a tally in Golden Bears’
four-run first inning.
KU added two runs in the second, as
Krista Cameron (sr. Formosa, ONTARIO/Sacred Heart)
tripled in a run after Denlinger’s solo home run.
Two runs in the fourth on Denlinger’s homer made it 8-1 and Hannum
ended the game with her solo homer.
Monica Glomb (so. Mars/Mars)
pitched all five innings for KU, allowing one unearned run on three
hits and one walk. She struck out two in her seventh win of the
season.
Maggie Reifsnyder (so. Philadelphia/Littleflower),
Krista Tedjeske (so. Summerhill/Forest Hills)
and
Sara Golden (fr. Souderton/Souderton)
each had RBIs, while
Maria Schiavo (jr. Old Forge/Old Forge),
Cameron and Tedjeske scored runs for KU.
Ashley Fitzgerald (sr. Kitchener, ONTARIO /Resurrection)
scored two runs on a hit and a walk.
