KU
sweeps West Chester to finish out regular season
KUTZTOWN,
Pa. —
The Kutztown University softball team swept West Chester in a
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East doubleheader on Saturday
at North Campus Field.
The Golden Bears won 8-5 in the
first game and shut out the Golden Rams 8-0 in the second game.
The Golden Bears finish off the
regular season with an overall record of 41-8-1 and 15-1 in the PSAC
East.
KU will host one of three
first-round PSAC playoff tournaments on Friday against the No. 2
seed from the PSAC West. The Golden Bears
will be the No. 1 seed from the East Division. The two other PSAC
teams that will travel to KU will be announced later.

homer in 8-5 win
KUTZTOWN,
Pa. —
The Golden Bears used the long ball to defeat West Chester in the
first game of their doubleheader Saturday at North Campus Field.
Michelle McGinty (fr. Warminster/Archbishop Wood) broke a
5-5 tie with a pinch-hit three-run home run, sending the first pitch
she saw over the left-field fence.
Her home run in the bottom of the fifth
was the Golden Bears' second of the game, as
Ashley
Fitzgerald (sr. Kitchener, ONT/Resurrection) hit a grand
slam in KU's five-run first inning.
Her grand slam, the 46th home run of her
career, came shortly after she, along with
Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton),
Krista Cameron (sr. Formosa, ONTARIO/Sacred Heart)
and
Kim Morrison (sr. Newmarket, ONTARIO /Sir William Mulock),
were honored for Senior Day.
Mary Hoch (so.
Somerton/St. Hubert) picked up the win on the mound, her
15th of the season, pitching the final three innings for KU. She
allowed one hit and struck out three.
Maggie
Reifsnyder (so. Philadlephia/Littleflower) finished 3-for-4
with a run scored, and Denlinger and Fitzgerald each recorded two
hits. Denlinger was 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.
Heather
Hannum (fr. Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham) also had an RBI single
in the game.
KU downs West
Chester 8-0 to finish sweep
KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— The Golden Bears defeated West Chester 8-0 to complete their sweep
of West Chester
at North Campus Field on Saturday.
The game was called in the bottom of the
fifth with two outs, due to the 8-run mercy rule.
Nicole
Colineri (fr. Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood),
who was 2-for-3 with a stolen base, scored the game-ending run on an
error.
Katlin
Arbogast (jr. Ambler/Wissahickon) picked up the win, her
18th of the season, after allowing only five hits. Arbogast did not
allow a baserunner beyond second base.
The offense was led by
Steph
Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton) and
Krista Tedjeske (so. Summerhill/Forest Hills). Denlinger
finished 1-for-2 with three RBIs, three runs scored and a double.
Tedjeske went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double.
Kim
Morrison (sr. Newmartket, ONT/Sir William Mulock) and
Maria
Schiavo (jr. Old Forge/Old Forge) each collected two hits
and scored two runs.
Krista Cameron (sr. Formosa, ONT/Sacred Heart) was 2-for-3
with an RBI.
Laine Heisler (jr. Reading/Reading)
was 1-for-1 with an RBI.
