Softball
KUTZTOWN, PA.
(November 30, 2009) -- The
Kutztown University softball family is proud to announce the
signings of four future Golden Bears to represent the maroon & gold
in the coming years.
The class
includes recruits Sam Derr (Lititz, PA), Jacqueline Hetzler
(Washington Twp., NJ), Katie Sage Laughlin (Springfield, PA), and
Kelly Goslin, (Coatesville, PA).
Details about our
new family members:
Kelly Goslin (pitcher)
is a fierce and competitive pitcher from Coatesville Area High
School. Goslin is a three-year member of the all-Ches Mont League
team, all-Chester County team. She participated in the annual
Carpenter Cup as a member of the Chester County team. Goslin also
plays volleyball. She was named to the Pennsylvania all-state second
team. More than just an offensive weapon, she was a capable pitcher,
first baseman and, when called upon, third baseman.
Katie Sage Laughlin (C/1B)
batted .469 for Cardinal O’Hara in 2009. She also set the school
record for doubles in a season (11) and drove in 21 runs. Laughlin
was selected to the all-Philadelphia Catholic League teams in 2008
and 2009.
Jacqueline Hetzler
(CF) is planning to major in communications and
media. Hetzler was named the winner of the Washington Township High
School softball most dedicated player of the year and track and
field rookie of the year. She was named the 2007 defensive player of
the year.
Sam Derr (P/OF)
tossed a perfect game in the Lancaster-Lebanon League quarterfinals
against Annville-Cleona. She was named to the Lancaster-Lebanon
all-league team four times. Derr was named Player of the Year in
2008 and 2009. She helped Warwick finish with as District Three
runner up.
