EASTON, Pa. — The Kutztown University
women’s volleyball team dropped its first match of the season,
falling 3-1 to Division I Lafayette Wednesday.
Austin
Kinney (jr. Landisville/Hempfield) had 52 assists and helped
teammate Katie Miller (so. Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) post
a team-high 17 kills in the match. Kinney also had 17 digs.
After falling 30-23 in the first game,
KU (6-1) tied the match with a 30-21 win in Game 2, but two straight
setbacks of 30-28 ended the Golden Bears’ bid to remain unbeaten.
Lindsay Confer (fr. Wingate/Bald
Eagle) finished with 15 kills and 15 digs, while Kelsey
Nester (fr. Catasauqua/Catasauqua) had 11 kills and seven
blocks. Erin Waters (sr. Waymart/Western Wayne) added 10
kills and four blocks.
Nicole Biuso (sr. Centereach,
N.Y./Ward Melville) added to her school record for most digs in
a career with another 17. She is now at 1,537 for her career.
KU will be back on the court for the
PSAC/WVIAC Crossover at Indiana, Pa., on Friday with a 5 p.m. match
against West Virginia Wesleyan. The Crossover continues for KU with
two matches on Saturday, at 9 a.m. against Fairmont State and at
3:30 p.m. against Seton Hill.
