KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Kutztown University women’s volleyball team shut out New York Tech 3-0 Saturday at Keystone Hall in a non-conference match, setting a single-season record for wins.

KU (26-7), which improved to 7-0 on its home court, won with game scores of 30-23, 30-19 and 30-24.  KU's 26 wins eclipses the previous single-season record for wins, set in 1983 and equaled in 1984.

Lindsay Confer (fr. Wingate/Bald Eagle Area) led the Golden Bears with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Austin Kinney (jr. Landisville/Hempfield) had 41 assists, six kills and nine digs.

Erin Waters (sr. Waymart/Western Wayne) had 10 kills and two blocks, and Nicole Biuso (sr. Centereach, N.Y./Ward Melville) had 20 digs. Jamie Celia (fr. Douglassville/Daniel Boone) recorded 12 digs and two service aces, and Kelsey Nester (fr. Catasauqua/ Catasauqua) had eight kills and two blocks.

KU will return to the court to host Shippensburg at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Keystone Hall in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match. Both teams have clinched a playoff berth and will battle for the top spot in the Eastern Division. Shippensburg is 8-0 in the division and 28-10 overall. The Red Raiders shut out the Golden Bears, who are 7-1 in the division, on Sept. 25.
