KU Outlasts Mercyhurst

CALIFORNIA, Pa. — In the opening match of the California Tournament the Kutztown University volleyball team won in the the fifth set tiebreaker by a score of 15-11 on Friday evening against Mercyhurst.

The Golden Bears (10-5) dropped the first set 25-16, then took the next two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-17. The Lakers (8-7) won the fourth set 25-18 to force a fifth and final set.

Leading KU was Lindsay Confer (so. Wingate/Bald Eagle Area) with 12 kills. Danielle Ozment (so. Reading/Holy Name) and Katie Miller (jr. Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) each had seven kills, Miller also added three blocks.

Jamie Celia (so. Douglassville/Daniel Boone) set the offense with 31 assists and added 10 digs. Libero Lindsey Smith (fr. Hanover/Delone Catholic) led the team with 16 digs.

Kutztown will play tournament host California (Pa.) Saturday morning at 10 and University of Indianapolis at 1 p.m.


California Tops Kutztown in Straight Sets

CALIFORNIA, Pa. — The Kutztown University volleyball team dropped Saturday morning's non-conference contest to California 3-0. Set scores were 25-11, 25-21 and 25-12.

Kelsey Nester (so. Catasauqua/Catasauqua) had three kills and one block for the Golden Bears.

Lindsey Smith (fr. Hanover/Delone Catholic) had 18 digs and Jamie Celia (so. Douglassville/Daniel Boone) had 11 digs.

Kutztown will be playing this afternoon against Indianapolis University at 1p.m.


KU falls to Indianapolis

CALIFORNIA, Pa. - the KU volleyball team fell to Indianapolis in the final match of the California (Pa.) Tournament.  Game scores were 25-17, 25-8 and 25-6.

Lindsey Smith (fr. Hanover/Delone Catholic) had nine digs and Kelsey Nester (so. Catasauqua/Catasauqua) added six digs for KU.

KU is now 10-7 on the season.
