BOXSCORE

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Kutztown University women’s volleyball team rallied to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat East Stroudsburg University 3-2 Saturday at Keystone Arena.

Jamie Celia (so. Douglassville/Daniel Boone) had 41 assists for the Golden Bears, who rallied late in the third set to come from behind and win 26-24, forcing a fourth set. There, KU won 25-21 and in the deciding fifth set, the Golden Bears won 15-11.

The comeback gave the Golden Bears their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East victory of the season.

East Stroudsburg (9-6, 3-2 PSAC East) won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-17, and looked to be on pace to handing KU (9-5, 1-3 PSAC East) another divisional setback.

However, Katie Miller (jr. Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown), who had a team-high 13 kills, along with Lindsay Confer (so. Wingate/Bald Eagle Area) and Katie Lutz (fr. Greencastle/Greencastle Antrim), who each had nine kills, led the Golden Bears back.

Miller also finished with a team-best six blocks, while Lutz had five.

Celia led the team with 14 digs, while Megan O’Connell (so. Horsham/Hatboro-Horsham) and Lindsey Smith (fr. Hanover/Delone Catholic) each had 13. Smith also had two service aces.

KU will return to the court to take on non-conference foe Bloomfield at 7 p.m. Thursday at Keystone Arena.
