MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — The Kutztown University women’s volleyball team fell behind 1-0 early, but won three straight sets to defeat Millersville University 3-1 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East match Tuesday.

Millersville (4-8, 1-5 PSAC East) won the first set 25-22, however, KU (11-7, 2-3 PSAC East) won sets two through four by scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-13.

Jamie Celia (so. Douglassville/Daniel Boone) had 32 assists and five service aces for the Golden Bears. She also had 10 digs.

Lindsey Smith (fr. Hanover/Delone Catholic) led KU with 19 digs, while Catie Leahy (so. Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley) had 15 and Megan O’Connell (so. Horsham/Hatboro-Horsham) had 11.

Lindsay Confer (so. Wingate/Bald Eagle Area), Katie Miller (jr. Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) and Kelsey Nester (so. Catasauqua/ Catasauqua) each had nine kills for the Golden Bears. Nester also had four service aces.

Katie Lutz (fr. Greencastle/Greencastle Antrim) had a team-high nine blocks. Cali Snell (fr. York/York Suburban) had seven and Miller and Celia each had five.

The Golden Bears will return to the court with a trip to Edinboro for a PSAC Crossover tournament. KU will open with Edinboro at 2:30 p.m. Friday and move on to play Gannon at 7:15 later that night. The crossover will close for the Golden Bears with a match against Indiana (Pa.) at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
