College volleyball match pays tribute to PGA
star

PINE GROVE, Pa.
— The Kutztown
University women's volleyball team defeated Lycoming 3-0 in
non-conference action Monday night at Pine Grove Middle School.
The match was played at the alma mater
of Shannon Sullivan, a
former Golden Bear whose life was tragically taken as a result of an
automobile accident in 2006. Proceeds from the match benefit
scholarships that have been established in Shannon's memory.
KU (14-11) swept the three sets by
scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-16.
Brittni Speck (fr. Hesston/Huntingdon)
had six kills and two blocks. Cali
Snell (fr. York/York Suburban) added four kills and four
blocks.
Lindsay Confer (so. Wingate/Bald Eagle Area) and
Katie Miller (jr. Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown)
had five kills each.
Lindsey Smith (fr. Hanover/Delone Catholic) notched 17 digs. Megan O'Connell (so. Horsham/Hatboro Horsham) had nine digs
and two aces.
Jamie Celia (so. Douglassville/Daniel Boone)
returned to KU's lineup with 21 assists, eight digs and two aces.
The Golden Bears return to the court
Thursday, when they host Cheyney in a match that was postponed in
September. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Keystone
Hall.
