WEST CHESTER, Pa.
— Mercedes Van Wagner (sr. Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview
Regional) set a new school record in blocks, but the Kutztown
University women’s basketball team fell 68-56 at West Chester
University Saturday at Hollinger Field House.

The Golden
Bears went into halftime down 40-28 and couldn’t make up
the difference in the second half of the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference East contest. KU (8-9, 1-1 PSAC East)
struggled from the field, shooting 36.5 percent (23-of-63).
Van Wagner registered a double-double with 12 points and 10
rebounds. She had five blocks, giving her 168 on her
career, breaking the school’s career blocked shot record (164).
The record was previously held by Becky Savage (1999-2003).
Rachel
Weidensaul (sr. Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) had a career- and
game-high 23 points, shooting 8-of-19 from the field and 4-of-9 from
3-point land.
Natalie Winters
paced West Chester (9-6,1-0 PSAC East) with 16 points, while Dana
Weems chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds.
KU will return to action Wednesday
as it takes on Millersville at 6 p.m. at Keystone Hall.
