 KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— Mercedes Van Wagner scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds
to lead Kutztown to a 59-51 win over Mansfield in the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener Wednesday
night.
Van Wagner hit
5-of-8 field goals and 8-of-10 free throws. Melissa McQuade
had 13 points and nine boards and Rachel Weidensaul had 10 points.
Alicia Espigh
notched 14 points and Jeannette Meacham scored 10 points for the
Mountaineers.
Mansfield led
through most of the first half, taking a 30-22 lead into halftime.
Kutztown opened the second half with a 14-4 run to take the lead.
Trailing 40-39,
Kutztown took the lead for good at the 7:36 mark on a three pointer
by McQuade. The bucket started a 14-4 run that gave Kutztown
control.
Kutztown improves
to 8-8 overall, 1-0 in the PSAC East. Mansfield falls to 5-11,
0-1 PSAC East.
