BOXSCORE

PHILADELPHIA Rachel Wisemiller (jr. Hazleton/Hazleton) led the Kutztown University women’s basketball team to a 64-52 win over the University of the Sciences at Morgan Arena in Philadelphia Saturday.

Rachel Wisemiller

Wisemiller scored a team-high 15 points and had four 3-pointers in the non-conference win.

Meredith Starr (so. Richmond, Va./Monacan) also reached double-digits, scoring 11 points. She also had five rebounds and five assists.

KU used a 13-3 run midway through the first half to create some separation and take a 29-19 lead into the half.

USP cut the lead to four points with 10:23 left in the game, but put together an 11-2 run to take a 52-39 lead with 7:18 left. Wisemiller led the charge with back-to-back 3-pointers during the run.

Again, USP narrowed the gap, this time to six points, but a 3-pointer by Starr and 9-of-13 made free throws by KU over the final 5:07 helped the Golden Bears secure the win.

Melissa McQuade (so. Pittsburgh/Shaler) led the team in rebounds with seven, assists with four and steals with three.

Chauntelle Schroeder (jr. Toronto, Ont./Mother Theresa) scored nine points and had six rebounds.

KU will travel to Lincoln (Pa.) for a 5:30 p.m. non-conference contest Tuesday.
