Schroeder named PSAC East Player of the Week

KUTZTOWN, PA. (December 23, 2009) –
Kutztown
University senior center Chauntelle Schroeder (Toronto, Ontario,
CANADA/Mother Teresa) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) East women’s basketball player of the week.
The 6 foot, 1 inch Schroeder is the second
consecutive Kutztown women’s basketball player to be named PSAC East
women’s basketball player of the week. Senior guard Rachel
Wisemiller (Hazleton/Hazleton) received the same honor last
week.
She sparked a 66-54 victory over Le Moyne by scoring
11 of her 15 points in the second half to help Kutztown win its
third consecutive game Tuesday afternoon. In addition to shooting
7-for-11 from the field, Schroeder grabbed a season-high nine
rebounds, had three steals and handed out a pair of assists.
Schroeder’s effort helped Kutztown improve its overall record to
6-2.
Schroeder scored seven points during a 15-9 run in
the second half to help the Golden Bears open their largest
advantage of the game against the Dolphins, 47-32 with 9 minutes, 46
seconds remaining.
Schroeder, who has scored in double figures four
times this season, averages 9.5 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per
game. She has grabbed seven or more rebounds in three straight games
for Kutztown. Schroeder leads Kutztown in steals with 14.
The Golden Bears finish their non-conference schedule
when they visit Philadelphia University Tuesday afternoon in a game
beginning at 2 p.m.
