ERIE,
Pa - Samantha Rumbley set Kutztown's record for 36 holes on a
par 72 course, leading the Golden Bears to a record-breaking
performance at the Gannon Invitational.
Rumbley carded 78 on both days of the tournament,
finishing with a 156 on the par 72, 5,829 yard Downing Golf
Course. Rumbley broke Lauren Foulke's record of 158 set at
last year's PSAC Championships.
The Golden Bears finished with a 318-320 for a score of 638, a team
record for 36 holes, eclipsing the previous mark of 669 at the 2006
PSAC Championships. KU's 318 in round one is 10 strokes better
than the previous best of 328 at the PSAC Championships in 2004.
KU finished third as a team, behind Allegheny and Findlay, who tied
for first with scores of 621.
Angie Petak finished with a 79-79-158, followed by Krista
Tressler with an 82-82-164. Kelli Pry carded a 79-83-162
and Lauren Foulke carded an 87-81-168. Erin Arden
shot an 85-86-171 and Erica Dechowitz recorded a
93-96-189.

Samantha Rumbley (fr. Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright)
shot a 78 to lead the Kutztown University women's golf team into
third place after one day at the Gannon Invitational.
Kelli Pry (fr.
Coatesville/Coatesville) and
Angela Petak (sr. Brockway/Brockway) both shot 79s as KU posted
a 318, one ahead of Gannon and 13 off the leader, Allegheny
(A-team). The University of Findlay is in second place of the
two-day event with a 314.
Krista Tressler (so.
Fayetteville/Heritage Academy) finished with an 82, while
Lauren
Foulke (jr. Kempton/Kempton) shot an 87. Erica Dechowitz (fr.
Harrisburg/Central Dauphin)
rounded out KU's golfers with a 93.
Rumbley, Pry and Tressler all posted career-best scores Sunday.
