ERIE, Pa. — Angela
Petak (sr. Brockway/Brockway) led the Kutztown University
women’s golf team with a KU record-tying 77 Sunday in the final round of
the Mercyhurst Invitational at Lake View Country Club.
The
Golden Bears, shooting a two-day total of 676, moved up two places
to finish the tournament in third behind Ashland University and the
University of Findlay.Ashland
finished with a 642, while Findlay shot a 659.
Petak’s round of 77
helped her finish in seventh overall with a two-day total of 164,
20-over par. She tied KU's record for 18 holes on a par 72 course
(Andrea Ely, 2004). Annie Miles, of Ashland, shot a 6-over, 150 for the
individual title.
Erica Dechowitz
(fr. Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) shot an 84 Sunday to finish
with a 170 and in 12th, and Lauren Foulke (jr.
Kempton/Kempton) and Krista Tressler (so.
Fayetteville/Heritage Academy) each had an 85 in the final round
and tied for 15th with identical scores of 173.
Samantha
Rumbley (fr. Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) chipped in with an
89, and Kelli Pry (fr. Coatesville/Coatesville), who led the
Golden Bears in the first round struggled Sunday and shot a 92.
KU will return to
the course for a two-day event Oct. 7-8 at the Gannon Invitational,
played at Lake Shore Country Club in Erie, Pa.
