ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa.
— The Kutztown University women's golf team finished in second
place at the McDaniel Invitational on Sunday.
Due to rain
Sunday's round was shortened to just the front nine with Allegheny
in first place with a 494. The Golden Bears followed with a 524 and
SUNY Cortland finished in third with a 537. Rounding out the top
five were invite host McDaniel in fourth (561) and Gettysburg in
fifth (563).
Krista Tressler (sr. Fayeteville/Heritage Academy),
who entered the day tied for fifth place after a first round 84,
used a 43 to finish in third place. Tressler was just edged out by
Allegheny teammates Hannah Schonau-Taylor (119) and Julia Wears
(125).
Samantha Rumbley (so. Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright)
remained in a tie for eighth after a two-day score of 130. She tied
Tressler with a team-best 43 for the second round.
Chelsea
Corbo (fr. Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) shot a 44 to
finish with a total of 132, good enough for to place 12. Finishing
tied for 15 was
Lauren Foulke (sr. Kempton/Kutztown) with a 135, after a 48
on the front nine.
Morgan
Todd (fr. Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) also shot a 48
in the second round to give her a two-day totatl of 154 and placed
tied for 35.
The Golden Bears
will return to action on Sunday, April 5 at the California (Pa.)
Invitational.
Round 1
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa.
— The
Kutztown University women’s golf team
opened the spring season shooting a 346 in the first round of the
McDaniel Invitational Saturday.
The Golden Bears
are in second place and trail Allegheny, which shot a 331 to hold
first place heading into Sunday's final round at the Bridges Golf
Club.
Krista Tressler (sr. Fayeteville/Heritage Academy) led the
Golden Bears on the par 72 course, recording a team-best score of
84.
Tressler is tied
for fifth place on the individual standings. Lauren Hammell, of
Allegheny, is at the top of the leaderboard after carding an 80.
Lauren
Foulke (sr. Brockway/Brockway)
and
Samatha Rumbley (so. Bel Air, Md./C.
Milton Wright)
tied for eighth, each shooting an 87.
Chelsea Corbo (fr.
Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) shot an 88 and is tied for 10th.
Morgan
Todd (fr. Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) rounded out
the scorecard for the Golden Bears, posting a 106. She is tied for
39th.
The Golden Bears
will return to the course at 8:30 a.m. Sunday for the final round of
the invitational.
