Golden Bears jump one
spot on final, finish 10th
LEWISBURG, PA –
The Kutztown University women's golf team shot a 358 on the last day
of the Bucknell Invitational, a score which moved them up a spot to
finish 10th in their season opener.
The Golden Bears
collectively finished with a 54-hole score of 1,057 on the
5,983-yard, par-70 Bucknell Golf Course.
Co-captains
Chelsea Corbo (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East)
and
Samantha Rumbley (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright)
again were the top performers for the Golden Bears. Corbo shot an 88
to bring her three round total to 253 to finish 45th, while Rumbley
had an 89 on the final day to total 261 and finish tied for 49th.

Freshman
Mindy Glatfelter
(Wrightsville/ Eastern York) shot a final round
team-best 87 to continue a solid start to her collegiate career. She
finished tied for 51st with a 265.
Nina Antos (State
College/State College Area) and sophomore
Morgan Todd
(Flemington/
Hunterdon Central)
finished alongside of each other, with Antos finishing 60th and Todd
61st.
Antos in her first
collegiate performance finished with a three round score of 285.
Todd had her best performance of the tournament on the final day
when she carded a 93 to finish with a 288 total.
The Golden Bears will
continue their fall schedule on Saturday and Sunday at the
Mercyhurst Invitational.

LEWISBURG,
PA (September 12, 2009) – Sophomore
Chelsea Corbo (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) and junior
Samantha Rumbley (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) were the top
performers for Kutztown University as the women's golf team
opened the 2009-10 season at the Bison Fall Classic.
Playing 36 holes at
a damp Bucknell Golf Club on Saturday, the Golden Bears turned
in team scores of 350 and 350 with 18 holes remaining on Sunday.
Corbo opened with an
81, then shot 84 in the afternoon. Rumbley carded an 83 in the
morning round and followed with an 89. Both players are among
the top 50. Corbo is in 35th place while Rumbley sits
in 50th place. Freshman Mindy Glatfelter
(Wrightsville/Eastern York) carded a season best 86 in the
afternoon for the Golden Bears.
Also participating
for Kutztown was freshman Nina Pollack-Antos (State
College/State College Area) and sophomore Morgan Todd
(Flemington/Hunterdon Central). Antos finished the afternoon
with a 96 and 91 for a total of 187. Todd’s best effort was a
94.
Led by individual
leader Caroline Sweet's rounds of 72-74, William & Mary is
outdistancing the 12-team field with a 36-hole total of 595
(294-301). Second-place Marshall (624) is 29 strokes behind the
Tribe, while Columbia (628), Bucknell (633) and Youngstown State
(633) are all right behind. Albany (637), Lehigh (638), Rutgers
(642), Robert Morris (678),
Kutztown (700) and McDaniel (715) round out the field.
The fall tournament
concludes Sunday, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
