Women's Golf - History
Women’s Golf at Kutztown
Women’s golf continues to grow on the collegiate
level. During the 2003-04 school year, 99 schools sponsored the
sport at the NCAA Division II level.
In 2000, the NCAA sponsored a separate Division II and III women’s
golf championship for the first time.
Kutztown was the first school in the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) to add women’s golf as a varsity sport. West
Chester will join Kutztown as the only other women’s golf team in
the PSAC this spring. Upon Kutztown’s implementation of women’s
golf, the PSAC Board of Directors voted to allow women’s golf
programs to compete with the men’s golf teams at the PSAC
championship. This began with the 2000-01 school year, and will
continue until such time as there are enough teams for a separate
women’s championship.
