BOXSCORE
BLOOMSBURG, Pa.
—
The Kutztown University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East contest at Bloomsburg
University Saturday afternoon.
The
Bloomsburg (13-3, 8-2 PSAC East) goal of the game came off a corner
by Kristine Preski at the 40:27 mark.
KU (11-5-2, 5-4-2 PSAC East) had a solid defensive effort, allowing
only one second-half shot.
Steph Addleman (fr. Chambersburg/Chambersburg) made 10 saves
total on the day. "I
was very pleased with our second half effort today," KU head coach
Erik Burstein said. "We were stronger in our tackles,
played a bit tougher, and we began to put some pressure on Bloom.
However, we still had a hard time breaking down Bloomsburg's defense
and we really did not create many chances."
The
offense was limited to four shots, three by
Chelsea Bressler (fr. Cleona/Annville-Cleona) and one from
Carolynne Kahl (so. Bethel/Tulpehocken).
The Huskies also held the advantage in corners by a 4-1 margin.
Despite the loss, with Shippensburg's
tie vs. Millersville Saturday, Kutztown clinched one of the four
PSAC playoff berths allotted for the Eastern Division.
The top four teams from both the PSAC East and PSAC West advance to
the playoffs, which begin on Tuesday, Nov. 4 with the quarterfinals.
The PSAC semifinals are Nov. 7 and the final is on Nov. 7
KU will
travel to Mansfield for its final game of the regular season in a PSAC East contest at
3 p.m. Wednesday.
