BOXSCORE
EAST STROUDSBURG,
Pa.
— The Kutztown University's women's soccer team saw its 11-game
unbeaten streak come to a close with a 2-0 loss at East Stroudsburg
Friday night.
The loss was KU's first
since Sept. 9. The Golden Bears had been 10-0-1 since then.
The Warriors scored both
goals in a three-minute span late in the second half. Lindsay Foder scored off an assist from Lynda Hicks at the 77:18
mark. The goal snapped KU's string of more than 400 scoreless
minutes defensively.
Jessica Oliva made it
2-0 with 80:34 off the clock.
East Stroudsburg outshot
the Golden Bears 19-6.
Steph
Addleman (fr. Chambersburg/Chambersburg)
had five saves in net for KU, while Janine Turico had three for the
Warriors.
"Tonight we needed a strong
team effort and we just did not get that," KU head coach Erik
Burstein said. "There were a few bright spots for us in
the match, but at the end of the day we were not able to match ESU's
energy and I felt that was the difference. Nevertheless, we get back
after it on Monday and begin preparations for what will be three
very important matches."
East Stroudsburg and
Kutztown, which had tied in their first meeting in September, came
into the game ranked fourth and second, respectively, in the
Atlantic Region.
