The Golden Bears (7-3-1), who have now won seven straight games,
tying the second-best win-streak in KU history, scored three first-half goals and
held on in the second half for the one-goal Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference crossover game.
Chelsea Bressler (fr. Cleona/Annville-Cleona) and
Jen Tice (so. Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) also had
goals for the Golden Bears.
Kahl opened the scoring in the 4th minute, taking a drop pass from
Raven Chiara (jr. Jamesburg, N.J./Monroe Twp.) and firing
the ball to the upper-right corner. Bressler created the play by
dribbling down the left sideline and sending the ball into the box.
Bressler made it 2-0 in the 17th minute, scoring unassisted, and
Tice headed in a corner kick from Kahl less than two minutes later.
Indiana (7-3), ranked No. 4 in the Atlantic Region, rallied late,
scoring with 27:16 left and 1:08 left on goals from Sarah Romasco
and Allison Keller, respectively, but it wasn't enough.
Steph Addleman (fr. Chambersburg/Chambersburg) made 11
saves while facing 17 shots to keep KU in the game. Of her 11 stops,
three were diving efforts to keep the Crimson Hawks off the
scoreboard.
"What a great result today," KU coach Erik Burstein
said. "The first half our girls were absolutely brilliant and they
played with tremendous class. I could not be more proud of them. I
am extremely happy with the result. I see so much potential in the
girls who make up this team and I am confident we are only going to
get better. Our girls should be very proud, they were first class
today."
The Golden Bears will return to the field at 2 p.m. Tuesday for a
PSAC East contest against Shippensburg, ranked seventh in the
region.
