Kutztown 3, Millersville 1
BOXSCORE
KUTZTOWN,
Pa.
—
Rachel Mehaffey (fr. West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford)
and
Carolynne Kahl (so. Bethel/Tulpehocken)
scored second
half goals to lead Kutztown to a 3-1 win over Millersville in a PSAC
East women's soccer match at Keystone Field.
Each team scored a goal in the first half. MU (4-10-1, 1-8-1 PSAC east) took an early lead in the 17th minute on a goal by Taylor
Suskie, assisted by Allison Snyder.
Jen Tice
(so. Barnegat, N.J./Sourthern Regional)
knotted the score for KU (11-4-2, 5-3-2 PSAC East), scoring off a
corner kick from Kahl in the 33rd minute.
After halftime, Mehaffey
netted her first collegiate goal in the 49th minute, then KU
stretched its lead on
Kahl's marker in
the 69th minute.
"Much like our first game with Millersville, this
was a tale of two halves." KU head coach Erik Burstein
said. "We were slow to start, but once we made a few
adjustments, our team found a bit of energy and began to compete.
In the second half we just continued to lift our work rate and we
scored two outstanding goals. This was a game we needed to win
and we got the result through a better second-half effort where we
just continued to lift our work rate and compete."
Millersville outshot
KU 12-8 in the game. Steph Addleman (fr. Chambersburg/Chambersburg) had
eight saves in the net. Jaime Lancaster had four saves for the
Marauders.
With two games left
in the regular season, Kutztown is third in the PSAC East with 17
points. West Chester (7-0-2) has 23 points, followed by
Bloomsburg (6-2) with 18. East Stroudsburg is fourth with 13
points (4-3-1). ESU and Bloom play Tuesday night.
KU can clinch one of
the four PSAC East playoff berths with a win at Bloomsburg Saturday,
or any Shippensburg loss or tie the rest of the way.
