BOXSCORE
KUTZTOWN,
Pa.
— The Kutztown University women’s soccer team held the No. 6 team in the nation
scoreless over 110 minutes to draw even with West Chester after two overtimes
Saturday at Keystone Field.
The
Golden Bears, who had tied the school record with eight straight wins heading
into Saturday’s matchup, are now unbeaten in their last nine games. The last
Golden Bear team to go unbeaten in nine consecutive games was the 2005
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference runner-ups. The streak is tied for third
longest in KU history (12 in 2003, 10 in 2004).
Steph Addleman (fr. Chambersburg/Chambersburg) had seven saves for KU
(8-3-2, 4-2-2 PSAC East), including three in the first overtime.
KU
outshot West Chester (9-0-3, 6-0-2 PSAC East) 7-2 in the second half, however,
the Golden Rams held the overall edge 8-7.
"The positive thing today was that we earned a very valuable point in the
conference standings; however, I felt we could have taken more from the match,"
KU head coach Erik Burstein said. "Our goal for this season was to make the
conference playoffs, and as long as we can get back to winning ways, I feel we
will achieve our goal."
The
Golden Bears will travel to Charleston (W.Va.) University for an 11 a.m. contest
on Monday.
