Kutztown and Clarion battle to scoreless tie

CLARION, PA (October 10, 2009) – The Kutztown University women’s soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against Clarion University Saturday afternoon. (BOXSCORE)

Kutztown (9-2-2 overall) shutout its fifth consecutive opponent. Freshman goal keeper Alyssa Hackelberg has not allowed a goal in 500 minutes of action. The last goal scored against Kutztown was on Sept. 19 at Bloomsburg in the 60th minute.

With the tie, Kutztown stretched its unbeaten streak to six matches. Kutztown outshot Clarion, 6-1 and held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Sarah Black paced Kutztown with a team-high three shots. Kutztown is ranked third in the latest NCAA Atlantic Region poll and 18th nationally by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Kutztown returns to action Wednesday afternoon when it travels to Shepherd (W. Va.) College for a 1:30 p.m. start.
