KUTZTOWN,
PA. (October 21, 2009) --
The NCAA Division II Women's
Soccer Committee has released its third poll and Kutztown University is
ranked third in the Atlantic Region.
The top teams in each region,
with records through October 19 are listed. The final regular-season poll
will be published November 4 and championship selections will take place
Nov. 9. Selections will be announced at 7 p.m. Eastern time, Monday, Nov. 9
via a webcast selection show on NCAA.com.
These are the rankings the
women’s soccer committee will use to determine its selections for the 2009
NCAA Women’s Division II Soccer Championships.
Kutztown (11-3-2 overall) was
ranked second last week. KU saw its eight-match unbeaten streak end with a
2-0 loss to West Chester, Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Bears are ranked
14th nationally by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Kutztown is ranked third in the Atlantic Region behind Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival West Chester and California.
The Golden Bears play their
second home match this month when they host East Stroudsburg Saturday
afternoon in a match beginning at 1 p.m. The Golden Bears are currently in
second place in the PSAC East with 19 points behind West Chester. Kutztown’s
final three regular season matches are all against PSAC East Division
opponents.
During the season, Kutztown
has defeated four teams who are currently regionally ranked in the latest
NCAA Division II soccer poll.
