KUTZTOWN, PA. (October 28, 2009) --
The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Committee has
released its fourth poll and Kutztown University
remained ranked third in the Atlantic Region.
The top teams in each region, with records through
October 26 are listed. The final regular-season poll
will be published November 4 and championship
selections will take place Nov. 9. Selections will
be announced at 7 p.m. Eastern time, Monday, Nov. 9
via a webcast selection show on NCAA.com.
Kutztown is ranked behind Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools West Chester and
California. Kutztown is ranked ahead of Indiana
(Pa.), Mercyhurst, Gannon, Slippery Rock, Davis &
Elkins, East Stroudsburg and Alderson-Broaddus.
The Golden Bears had a 1-1 week, losing to West
Chester, 2-0, and defeating East Stroudsburg, 1-0.
Kutztown also clinched the No. 2 seed in the
upcoming PSAC playoffs and will host a quarterfinal
playoff game on Tuesday November 3 at 1 p.m. against
an opponent to be determined.
Freshman keeper Alyssa Hackelberg (Randolph,
NJ/Randolph) added to her school record for
shutouts in a single season with 11 in the ESU
victory. Freshman Molly Cooper (Palmyra/Palmyra)
scored the only goal of the ESU game off of a pass
from Chelsea Bressler (Annville/Annville-Cleona).
Kutztown concludes its regular season this week with
match tonight at Millersville on Wednesday Oct. 28
(6 p.m.) and at home against Bloomsburg on Saturday
Oct. 31 starting at 1 p.m. With one more victory,
Kutztown will surpass its regular season win total
from last year of 12.
These are the rankings the women’s soccer committee
will use to determine its selections for the 2009
NCAA Women’s Division II Soccer Championships.
During the season, Kutztown has defeated four teams
who are currently regionally ranked in the latest
NCAA Division II soccer poll.
