Today was a true test for
our girls and they passed with flying colors! For the first time
this season we were able to put together quality soccer with a
highly competitive attitude.
That is something we need
to continue to bring to each and every match for the remainder
of the year, and if we do, we will claim a playoff spot!
I am very proud of our
players for the way they came after this game and the quality
they put on the field. It is only the
tip of the iceberg."
I also want to thank the great crowd that attended today's
match! Although the weather was very wet, they were certainly
treated to an entertaining contest. Thanks so much for your
support!

Entering
college as a freshman can be daunting without adding the
pressures of performing on the field at the collegiate level,
but the program and school have been nothing but welcoming. When
we first arrived everyone could feel the nerves for the fitness
test buzzing around us. Those nerves were quickly put to rest
when we came together at the track. It was one of the neatest
feelings ever. Neither of us have experienced a team unify so
quickly to accomplish a task, both as individuals, as well as
for each other. The fitness test, although extremely
challenging, seemed so much easier with the support of all of
our teammates and coaches. From then the competitive level
continued on into preseason training.
The fitness
test was only the first step. We knew for preseason we would
have to bring the same intensity. The unity that developed
during the test helped preseason tremendously, because we were
able to demand the same quality from each other on the field. It
added to the competitive nature and level of play, which we have
never had the privilege to experience each and every day like we
do now.
Now, having
had one game under our belt, we are very excited for what the
season will bring. It will be filled with challenges and hard
work, but well worth every minute to achieve our goals! |

Our preseason officially started with the Golden
Bear fitness test. The GBFT went extremely well and it was a
complete team effort. All of the girls pulled together and got
it done.
Between the strong returning players and the 13 incoming
freshman, we all possess the desire and intensity to perform as
a top-level team.
Also joining our family are two new assistant coaches that have
the same enthusiasm toward the game that coach Burstein already
exerts.
As we continue through preseason, the team is raising the bar to
a new level in hopes of exceeding expectations throughout the
PSAC. |

The Kutztown University women's soccer team
reported for preseason camp on Sunday, Aug. 10, and immediately
began preparations for the fall 2008 campaign.
After check-in, the entire team and members of the coaching
staff enjoyed a buffet style dinner, had their team meeting and
outlined their schedule for what will be a very important
preseason camp!The Golden Bears welcome
13 freshman, 10 sophomores, one junior and one senior to camp.
This group includes two All-Conference players, 12 letterwinners
and five returning starters.
In my second year of head coaching at KU, I am
optimistic about the 2008 team, but I also feel this will be a
very challenging season for them.
With a tough schedule, especially in early
September, we must train very well and stay competitive each and
every session! In addition, with a large freshman class, we hope
our new players will gel quickly and make a major impact in the
program right from the start. It should be interesting!
The 2008 regular season begins on Saturday,
Aug. 30, with a home game against a very strong Mercyhurst
College team. This game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff and
will be played on Keystone Field. Come out and cheer us on!
Please check back for updates to our soccer
blog, "Corner Kicks," which will also include posts from
players. |
