Student Conduct Standards

Other Violations

Complicity
Conspiring with or knowingly aid or encourage another student in the commission of a Code of Conduct violation. Students in the presence of a violation are expected to:

  1. Make every reasonable effort to cease the violation
  2. Leave the area where the violation is occurring and/or
  3. Contact the appropriate university staff

Disorderly Conduct
Disruptive behavior on campus that serves no reasonable, legitimate purpose is prohibited.

Expectations of Cooperation
A student is expected to identify himself/herself and to cooperate to the satisfaction of the questioner when requested by a University official, Public Safety officer, or faculty member in responsible performance of his/her administrative duties.

Judicial Orders

  1. Students are required to appear as witnesses when notified by a judicial order.
  2. Perjury by witness or defendants at a hearing or disorderly conduct by participants and/or spectators during a judicial hearing is prohibited.
  3. Persistent infractions of University regulations disregarding the safety of person or property is cause for disciplinary action.
  4. Violation of disciplinary sanction or probation will result in further disciplinary action.

Loitering on Campus
Unauthorized persons whose presence on campus constitutes a nuisance shall be prosecuted in accordance with the criminal trespass provisions of the Pennsylvania Criminal Code.

Misappopriation of Resources
The act or the attempt to remove a university resource designed for general student usage or consumption from the designated area.

Open Flames
The use of open flames, incense, candles and/or hot coil electrical devices is prohibited in residence halls.

Responsibility for Actions of Guests
Students are responsible for the behavior of their guests at all times and in all places. The student host is responsible to make guests aware of rules and regulations of the residence halls and the campus in general.

Smoking
Students should smoke only in posted designated areas on campus.

Confiscation
All prohibited items or personal items used to transport or store prohibited items are subject to confiscation by university officials. Prohibited items, particularly those of an illegal nature will not be returned and will be destroyed. Personal items used in the commission of a Code of Conduct violation become the property of Kutztown University. They may be returned at the university's discretion.
