For those who may be interested in the future, please read the requirements below to get an better understanding of the position.

Part-time positions become more permanent following a 45 day probationary period.

The student athletic training assistants at Kutztown University serve as an invaluable resource to the Sports Medicine program. Students work with our professional staff in providing the highest quality of care for Kutztown University athletes.

The experiences student gains, within our program, are with them for many years to come. In addition to weekly scheduled work times, students may work during several holidays, it will require some travel, attendance during preseason fall camp (usually 3+ wks including weekends), work during the fall season (15-20hrs/wk, to includes most Saturdays, H/A w/ Football as required), work during the winter season (7-12hrs/wk, and may include some night & weekend home game coverage), and work during the spring season (10-15 hrs/wk during the Spring season (includes some Sat. home game coverage). You will also be required to get certified in both First Aid & Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation  & AED (CPR/AED) within your first four (4) months of employment. This position also requires dependable attendance and satisfactory academic progress (2.5 GPA).

During fall camp, the professional staff reviews emergency procedures, instructs and reviews taping techniques, and conducts CPR-AED re-certification.

Students are hired for an initial 45 day probation period , which includes completing certain professional skill requirements. Once completed, it will be determined whether the student has the requisite abilities to continue working in our program.  Students are then required to advance thru their next skill level at the end of their first year. Once this level is completed, students will be eligible for a pay raise.

If you have a sincere interest in becoming a KU student athletic trainer, please complete the required forms and submit to Rennie Sacco, Coordinator of Sports Medicine, and alert him of your interest. We are looking for students who are responsible, hard working, willing to learn, enthusiastic who have a desire to help people. You do not need any experience from high school as either a student athletic trainer or athlete. (although, some experience is helpful) We will teach you all that you need to know. You will make friendships, gain an basic understanding of the medical field, receive a sense of accomplishment while making money and having a front row seat to athletic events. This is not an easy work study job, and application should not be taken lightly. Please, only serious inquiries need apply.
