Frequently Asked Questions

Where can Transfer Students park?

Depending on the amount of credits being transferred you can either park in the Fair Grounds Parking Lot (under 30 credits) or the WHITE spaces on campus (over 30 credits). Either way you will need to register your vehicle online with Public Safety and get a parking sticker to place in the windshield of your car.

Do I have a Kutztown email address?

Yes, to learn how to use your campus email go to:

http://www.kutztown.edu/infotech/essentials/email/

It is very important that you check your email as often as your schedule will allow. The university considers this account your "official" email and will use it as a way to get important information to you. Also you will find that many of your professors and classmates use your email as a way to contact you.

Is there a Commuter meal plan?

Suggested meal plans for Commuter & Adult Students. There is the 5 meal optimum plan, which allows for 1 meal every day. It is a great plan if you are on campus every day for one meal. The other one is the Flex plan and it is just that flexible. It is essentially a debit card for the various dining services on campus. (Including Taylor & Byrnes)

I hate lugging my stuff around campus every day.  Is there a place I can store my stuff?

Yes, in the McFarland Student Union you can rent a locker for just $5 a year (+ $10 refundable deposit). Lockers are located on the lower and main floors. For more information or to rent a locker go to the McFarland Student Union Information Desk.

I wish there was a lounge where I could go and warm up my lunch and relax in-between my classes.

The Commuter Lounge is on the 3rd Floor of the McFarland Student Union, a nice relaxing lounge equipped with a microwave, sink, full size refrigerator, two computers, and phone.

I feel awkward joining some of the other organizations on campus and I just can’t find where I fit in.  Can you suggest an organization that does not require a lot of time but that will keep me involved so I don’t feel quite so lost in the crowd?

The Commuter Student Association (CSA) is just the group for you. They meet twice a month during the free hours (11 AM –12 PM on either Tuesday or Thursday). For more information email  csa at kutztown.edu

How do I know when school is canceled due to bad weather?

There are actually a few ways to find out if school is closed:

  • For the most up to date information you can check the following web site: http://www.kutztown.edu/weather/
  • Call the Weather Information Hotline: (610) 683-4649 or
  • Listen to your local TV station.

I feel out of the loop and I am never sure about what is going on, what is the best way to keep track of what is happening on campus.

There are actually many to stay on top of the happenings on campus...

  • The Central Calendar- this is a big online calendar that lists all the activities happening on campus. You can link to it at:
    http://www.kutztown.edu/calendar/
  • Bear Essential’s- this is a weekly newsletter just for students and it has up to date information on campus happenings. You can link to it at:
    http://www.kutztown.edu/news/bear
  • You can also check out the green boards throughout campus, organizations usually post events and activities happening on and off campus
  • There are also two bulletin boards in the Student Union that many use to post valuable information for students
  • And never forget to check your individual/personal KU email accounts.
