STATISTIC REPORT FOR 2008- 2010
Crimes as reported to the Kutztown University’s Public Safety and Police
Services, Campus Officials, and other Law Enforcement Agencies on/or
near the Kutztown University Campus. These reports are compiled in
accordance with the provisions of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of
Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act.
CRIME
STATISTICS FOR CONTIGUOUS AREAS
Public property areas are defined as adjacent streets and sidewalks to
Kutztown University. Non-Campus areas are defined as any property owned,
leased or controlled by Kutztown University that is in support of the
educational purpose, which is frequented by students, and is not within
the same reasonably contiguous geographic area of Kutztown University.
**Residence Hall statistics are a subset of the On Campus statistics.

In 2008, Congress enacted the Higher Education Opportunity Act, P.L.
110-315. The Act included amendments to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of
Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”)
found at 20 U.S.C. § 1902 (f). A number of the changes required by this
act have been incorporated into the text of this document. Another area
of significant importance is the expansion of the hate crime reporting.
Under the prior statutory language, certain crimes were required to be
reported according to category of prejudice if the victim was selected
based on his or her “actual or perceived race, gender, religion, sexual
orientation, ethnicity, or disability” (20 U.S.C. § 1902 (f) (1) (F)
(ii)). The following offenses have been added to that list:
larceny-theft, simple assault, intimidation, destruction, damage or
vandalism of property.
