SPECIAL PROGRAMMING ... WEEK OF FEBRUARY 6th
Student
specialty shows are well underway here in 2012 and our
commitment to campus and community public service talk continues
this year with our popular "Tuesday Talk" segment every Tuesday
this semester from noon to 4 p.m.
On Tuesday,
February 7th, tune in for talk radio with Dan Donahue on "The
Dan Donahue Show" from noon to 1 p.m.
Then at 1
p.m., it's KUR's exclusive gay/lesbian talk show "This Way Out"
followed at 1:30 by "Fifty One Percent," talk radio for women.
At 2, it's
"Kutztown Live" with our very own Mike R., this February 7th
sitting down at 2 Clark Frederic, whose distant ancestors built
the former Kemp Hotel on the far north side of town across from
the Weis Shopping Center. More recently, the Kemp Hotel was
known as "Seasons Grille" in the mid 2000s and "The Whispering
Springs Restaurant" in the 1990s and early 2000s. Unfortunately,
it now sits abandoned and falling apart in 2012, but Frederic is
trying to change that. If you're interested in Kutztown history,
tune in for this fascinating and informative interview and find
out how perhaps you can help save this important Kutztown
landmark. Then at 2:30, Mike R. chats with a representative from
the national non-profit
anti-depression/addiction/self-injury/suicide organization "To
Write Love on Her Arms."
Our
four-hour Tuesday talk block ends from 3 to 4 p.m. with KUR's
own little local version of NPR's "Car Talk." Ours is called
"The KU Car Show" with Mr. Reider. Tune in to talk cars, trucks,
and motorcycles with KUR's own vehicle enthusiast!
Later in the
week, talk radio continues from noon to 1 on Friday with "The
Show," KUR's exclusive sports/talk show with Nick Petrillo,
followed at 1 by "Notas Latinas," KUR's exclusive Latino
entertainment and information show.
All of this
in addition to all the great student/staff specialty music
shows, the full schedule of which can be found by clicking on
the "Schedule" link above. KUR truly is the most diverse and
multicultural station on the local dial! Thanks for listening
and spreading the word!

A NEW NAME FOR DAYTIME/LATE NIGHT FORMAT!
Our relaxing yet energizing
daytime and late night mix of music has been called "Cafe KUR"
for seven years. Over those years, the format was tweaked here
and there but has always included a healthy dose of jazz, soul,
funk, light rock, and oldies. So in 2012, we've decided to stop
trying to label what kind of music it is and rather label what
it encompasses. Welcome to "The KU Radio Lounge," where the
music defines the setting.

KUR AVAILABLE ON "TuneIn"
You can listen to KUR on your
smart phone through the "TuneIn"
application. Click on "TuneIn"
and search for KUR. Simple as that! For you lower-tech folks,
you can listen to KUR on ANY phone in the world (cell or
landline) simply by dialing (610)-465-7860. The only charges for
either of these services are any applicable data or voice
charges you are billed for through your service.

ARE YOU OUR FAN ON
FACEBOOK &
TWITTER?
If you aren't, what's wrong with you?? You're missing out on
daily, sometimes multiple-times daily updates from your favorite
radio station on special programming, inside information, and

KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY HIGHLIGHTS KUR!
Kutztown University Public Relations has decided to highlight
our radio station for publicity purposes. Longtime KUR
personality, archivist, and internal computer support specialist
Mike McVicar produced the 4 minute and 45 second feature and we invite you to
view it here and share your comments! Watch today and learn
a little more about the "Radio Voice of Kutztown University, KUR!"

days and weeks for more photos!

STUDIO WEBCAM!
Our listeners and personalities asked for it; KUR
provides. An in-studio webcam! We've still got some bugs to work
out with it, so excuse us if it's a bit fritzy over the next
couple of weeks, but simply click on the icon on the left side
of our homepage directly underneath the "Daily Lineup" bar to
see what your favorite DJ's are up to in the studio while doing
their show!

KUR IS YOUR NEWS LEADER IN NORTH-EASTERN
BERKS!
How many of you out there are on Twitter and regularly follow
people?
If you already are a Twitter user, make sure you're following us
at
http://twitter.com/kuradio
If you're not already a Twitter user, make sure to join (if for
no other reason than to follow us) and then follow us at
http://twitter.com/kuradio
Why? Per popular request, and in our ongoing effort to be
North-Eastern Berks County's news leader in addition to
entertainment, KUR is now sending out news and traffic bulletins
over Twitter, along with our regular station updates. We will
NOT be sending those news and traffic bulletins over Facebook,
based on the way Facebook fan pages make groups send out group
e-mails. We WILL be keeping our Facebook fan page, though, for
other fun purposes (scroll farther down for the link).
So do it now and don't delay! The city papers and radio stations
do their best to cover news in our area and we respect that, but
some of those smaller stories like icy local roads sometimes get
missed. KUR News on Twitter will do our best to fill that niche!
And when we can't be in the news room to get it on-air as fast
as we'd like, that's where
http://twitter.com/kuradio comes in.

some of our interviews heard weekly on our much talked about
"Diversity Rest Stop" Radio Program. It's the show that airs
Wednesdays at 1:45 p.m. and has people talking on
the streets, and now it's available to you whenever you want it,
especially if you can't listen at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesdays!
KUR truly is the "Radio Voice of Kutztown
University," enhancing your listening experience through the
wonders of computerized technology!

MISSION OF KUR
The
purpose of KUR is to
provide a means of student training and experience in radio
broadcasting, to provide a means of entertainment and
information for the student body and community, to serve the
public interest, and to be an instrument of expression for
student, faculty, and community opinion, in accordance with the
rules of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and KU
policy.
Any
views or opinions expressed on KUR are not necessarily those of

CONTEST RULES
Kutztown University Radio occasionally runs an
over-the-air contest soliciting listeners to call in and win a
prize or qualify for a prize. Some basic rules to remember:
1) Unless otherwise stated, contests are open to anyone other than people directly
affiliated with KUR, meaning KUR members are not eligible to
participate and win. Per approval from KU's KUSSI department,
the contests are open to anyone else including University
students, faculty, staff, and of course any random listeners in
the local, national, or international community. An exception to
this would be contests specifically for KU students only,
whereupon such would clearly be stated in conjunction with the
giveaway.
2) Please only one winner per family.
3) You are not allowed to win any KUR contest more than once
every 30 days.
4) Prizes are to be picked up at KUR's offices during normal
business hours which can be acquired by arrangement with a KUR
staff member. Under special circumstances, KUR may agree to mail
the prize, but this is not guaranteed. You are normally
responsible for picking up your own prize.
5) KUR is not responsible for any losses or damages that occur
from the use of any prize you win from the radio station.
6) KUR never
conducts any contests where we would call you. Any such contest call you may
receive should be considered a scam and reported to your local
authorities and/or KUR. The only exception to this would be if
you signed up to win a prize from one of our promotional tables,
whereupon we will only call you if you won one of the prizes.
7) Any questions about any of these rules should be directed to
KUR management at (610)-683-4059.
8) Good luck!
