Awards & Recognition
Senior Class Commencement Speakers
Applications are now being accepted from
graduating seniors cleared to walk at the spring 2008 Commencement
ceremonies. Two seniors will be chosen to offer commencement addresses.
In order to be considered for this distinction, a candidate must meet
the following minimum requirements:
-
have a minimum grade point average of 2.5
entering the spring 2008 semester,
-
demonstrate service to the university community
and demonstrate a record of good university citizenship and
cooperation (Presence of these qualities shall be demonstrated in
the application process and letters of recommendation.),
-
demonstrate evidence of meaningful co-curricular
involvement, and
-
be in good disciplinary standing.
In addition, each candidate must complete
the Senior Class Commencement
Speaker application. This application, along with an interview
process, will be used to determine the candidates of choice. The chosen
candidates will be expected to provide a brief address (approximately
three to five minutes) at their respective spring commencement ceremony
scheduled for Saturday, May 10th.
Completed applications and supporting
documentation must be returned to MSU 262 by 4:30pm on Monday, March 10th.

Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges
Who's Who exists as one of the most highly regards and long-standing honors programs in the nations. Each year, Kutztown University honors selected students as inductees to Who's Who Among Students. Students eligible for the honor must be within three semesters of graduation, maintain a grade point average of 2.75 and be involved in volunteer activities on campus and within neighboring communities. Honorees are those students who enhance the positive image of America's young adults through their contributions to the community and school. All nominations must be endorsed by the University faculty or administration.
Applications are available each fall semester.
The selection process has been completed for
2007-2008.
Academic Achievement Awards
The Kutztown Academic Achievement Awards were established through a generous gift provided by Dr. Carlson R. Chambliss, who served as a member of the Kutztown University faculty from 1970 until 2003. The purpose of the awards is to recognize the exceptional individual achievements of a select group of senior students as their careers at Kutztown University draw to a close.
Faculty and staff at Kutztown University are encouraged to nominate students worthy of consideration for this prestigious award. The criterion requires that the applicant exemplify an individual achievement in one or more of the following areas in order to be considered for one of the twelve awards. The areas of achievement are:
a) Successfully completed research projects.
b) Original artwork of high quality.
c) Artistic performances (music, chorus, drama, etc) of high quality.
d) Original writing in literature or meritorious writing in other fields.
e) Noteworthy achievements in athletics
f) Outstanding service to the Kutztown University community
Dr. Chambliss has provided the resources for up to twelve medals
(2 gold, 4 silver, 6 copper) to be issued annually to the students selected for this award. In addition, each student recipient will receive a certificate acknowledging conferral of the award.

Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the Office of the Associate Vice President and Dean for Student Services and Campus Life, Room 262 McFarland Student Union Building by February 15, 2008.
