Conservation Biology Tenure Track Position

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 10,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The University is very interested in hiring employees who have had extensive experience with diverse populations.

The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track position in Conservation Biology beginning in Fall 2012. Required: Ph.D. in Biology or related field (completed before the contract is signed). The successful candidate will be expected to develop coursed in areas such as resource management, habitat restoration, and conservation; contribute significantly to the interdisciplinary environmental science program; and have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and research. Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching and research specialties complement those of the biology faculty. Three years of college-level teaching experience or equivalent required. Courses to be taught include conservation biology and other majors and non-majors courses in environmental science and biology. Successful interview and demonstration of relevant ability required. Salary competitive. Tenure-track faculty are expected to  show excellence in teaching , continued scholarly growth evidenced by research and publications, and service to the department and university.

Send letter of application, vita, transcripts (official transcripts will be necessary before hiring ), brief statements of teaching philosophy and research interest (including ways in which undergraduates could be involved in the research), and three current letters of reference to  Chair, Conservation Biology Search, Department of Biology, Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA 19530.
