Interactive Design Tenure Track Position

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 10,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The University is very interested in hiring employees who have had extensive experience with diverse populations.

The Department of Communication Design at Kutztown University invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in Interactive Design starting Fall 2012.  Requirements: BFA in Interactive or Design related field AND active enrollment in a MFA program in Interactive or Design Related Field (60 semester credit hours)., official conferral of the terminal degree must occur before December 15, 2013. Preferred: Earned MFA degree in Interactive or Design Related Field. 3 years college-level teaching experience or equivalent professional experience in Interactive Design of related field is required. Candidate must be proficient with industry-standard software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash and be able to design and produce high-quality interactive projects using XHTML and CSS as well as Javascript and PHP. Experience with HTML5, content management systems or mobile applications are a plus.

Class Responsibilities: The candidate will teach a variety of Interactive Design courses from the sophomore through the senior level. Examples are Interactive Design 1: Web Design and Interactive Design 2: Multimedia. The candidate will also be asked to teach other courses within the Communication Design curriculum including Intro to Digital Design 1 and 2.

A successful interview and demonstration of relevant ability required. Salary competitive.
