Mathematics Education Tenure Track Position

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 10,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The University is very interested in hiring employees who have had extensive experience with diverse populations.

The Department of Mathematics at Kutztown University invites applications for a tenure track position in Mathematics Education beginning Fall 2012.  Candidates must have the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both mathematics and mathematics education as well as the capability to teach and supervise pre-service teachers in mathematics.  The position has a regular teaching load of 12 hours per week each semester.  Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Mathematics Education with a Master’s degree in Mathematics, or a Ph.D. in Mathematics with a record of involvement in Mathematics Education.  We will also consider ABD candidates who will be completing their doctorates within one year of hire.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching at the K-12 level.

In addition to teaching at all levels and supporting initiatives to increase the number of teachers with mathematics credentials, duties include student advisement and committee service for the department, the College of Liberal Arts and Science, and the University.  The successful candidate is expected to engage in research and scholarship with publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or grant activity expected, as is participation in university service and university outreach programs.  In addition, candidates must have the ability to integrate the use of technology into all courses.
