Weaving and Non-Loom Structures Tenure Track Position

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 10,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The University is very interested in hiring employees who have had extensive experience with diverse populations.

The Department of Art Education and Crafts at Kutztown University invites applicants for a tenure track, full time position in Weaving and Non-Loom Structure beginning Fall 2012.  MFA in Fiber Art required.  Rank will be at level of Assistant Professor.  Teaching experience or equivalent required.  Teaching responsibilities will include beginning and advanced levels in weaving and beginning and advanced levels in Fiber structures.  Expertise in a wide variety of loom and non-loom techniques such as felting, embroidery, knotting, and dyeing.  The applicant should demonstrate a clear understanding of contemporary fiber arts issues and possess an active exhibition record.  Successful interview and demonstration of relevant ability required. 

Send letter of application, vita, official transcripts from all degree programs, a brief statement of teaching philosophy, portfolio (digital or website) of both own and student work, and three current letters of reference to: Jim Malenda, Search Committee Chair, Department of Art Education and Crafts, Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA 19530.  Review of applications will begin February 28, 2012, and will continue until the position is filled.
