Now more than ever, private support is important to the mission of Kutztown University. When most of our alumni were students, the Commonwealth funded up to 70% of the cost of education. Today, the Commonwealth's share is under 38%.

Because students bear a larger percentage of the cost, financial aid and scholarship assistance is critical. Additionally, many programs important to the University and community are not covered by state appropriations.

In order for Kutztown University to maintain our excellent programs and the academic quality of our students, private sources of funds are essential.

Annual Fund
Gifts to the Annual Fund are designated to the area of greatest need or restricted the donor's area of interest. Projects funded by the Kutztown University Foundation may include: scholarships, student research grants, special events and speakers.

Scholarships
More than any other gift, scholarships make a direct difference in the life of a student. There are several options for donors who wish to create scholarships in memory of someone important to them or in honor of themselves. Over 500 students received financial aid through the Foundation during the fiscal year 2002-2003.

Class Gifts
Each year, the 50th and 25th reunion classes make a difference in the lives of today's Kutztown University students by creating an endowed scholarship in honor of those who made a difference to them when they were students. The Classes of 1954 and 1979 will soon begin to contact classmates for their gifts.

Wills/Bequests
If you currently support Kutztown University, you may want to consider providing for that support to continue after you are gone. Of, if it is just beyond you means to support the university now, a gift through your estate can make a significant difference.

Planned Gifts
Would you like to be able to give more to Kutztown University, but are concerned with maintaining your retirement income? More and more alumni are taking advantage of opportunities to give gifts that help the University and pay the donor an income for life. Learn how to support your alma mater in your estate plans, as well.

Athletics
Kutztown University's athletic program is funded entirely by our students. Support the program that made a difference to you when you were a student. Equipment, scholarships and travel are high on the list of needs.
